Join AFL Resident Artist Deanna Poelsema for this 4-week introductory course on wheel throwing, where you will learn throwing techniques and be guided through the process of creating a piece from start to finish.

About the Event
Dates: Every Wednesday - 10/12, 10/19, 10/26, 11/2 all from 7 - 9 PM
Class Ages: 10+
Notes: We recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. If possible, cut nails short for the session; it makes working with clay easier!
Never done pottery or touched clay in your life!? No worries we got you! This 4 class is perfect for beginners or intermediate potters. Over the course of 4 weeks, you will learn basic throwing techniques and will be guided through the process of how to create work on the wheel from start to finish. If you are brand new to clay, and still struggle with centering, or throwing a cylinder, this class is for you! Registration includes tools, 25lbs of clay, glaze, and firing. Students may purchase additional clay and open studio time for a nominal fee if desired.

Week 4: Glazing

As a reminder, all class registrations and ticket sales are final. In the event of a cancellation, tickets may be exchanged for another performance date or event. If a class is canceled, refunds or exchanges will be made available to registered participants.

Parking / Finding Our Facilities
Parking for Arts for Lawrence is anywhere next to the blue stars on the map below. Amphitheater parking is also available EXCEPT during concerts and festivals. Parking is also available next to 56th Street after 6:30 PM. The parking lot next to our facility is NOT for Theater or FBCC parking.
